The Ritual Offering dance which is held prior to the Kalachakra Initiation was held today in front of a huge gathering and in presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Tomorrow the preparation initiation for disciples will be held for those to be given the Kalachakra Initiation. The historic Kalachakra Initiation started here at Buddhagaya amidst a huge gathering of monks, nuns and lay devotees led by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The 28th Kalachakra Initiation is taking place here after the postponement of the one that could not be held last year. The Kalachakra Puja started with the chanting of sutras by the Theravada monks from the Mahabodhi Mahavihara, chanting by the Vietnamese monks, recitation from the Hindu Sastras and the chanting from the Japanese tradition. His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave teachings on the 37 practices of the Bodhisattva ideals and the Middle Stages of Meditations. The Kalachakra Initiation will start from the 16th and the Long Life Puja will be held on the 20th January 2003. more news |

Buddhagaya, June 27, 2002 The World Heritage Committee, meeting in Budapest, Hungary, has inscribed Mahabodhi Temple on the World Heritage List. The Mahabodhi Temple Complex is one of the four holy sites related to the life of the Lord Buddha, and particularly to the attainment of Enlightenment.
