17th Karmapa offers prayers in Mahabodhi Mahavihara

    The 17th Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorjee attended a special prayer at the Mahabodhi Mahavihara in the morning. He was received at the Entrance of the Mahabodhi Mahavihara by Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhipala and Sri Kali Charan SinghYadav, the Bhikkhu-in-Charge and the Secretary respectively.  The Karmapa went to the Temple and offered prayers after offering flowers and lighting the traditional lamp. Thereafter the Karmapa went to the Bodhi Tree and offered Khata  and then proceeded to the special seat made for His Holiness to deliver his discourse and teachings to the thousands of devotees who have gathered here for the Kagyu Monlam. The Monlam comes to an end tomorrow after the Karmapa showers his blessings for World Peace.

The Karmapa will be staying back for the Kalachakra Empowerment which will be presided by H.H. the Dalai lama who will be arriving at Buddhagaya on the 7th January 2002.
