Mahabodhi Mahavihara Boundary Railing Renovation Project – 2008-09 (BRRP-08) Bodhgaya, Bihar, India

1. Project need :
The cemented boundary railings surrounding both the outer and inner circles of Mahabodhi Mahavihara Temple complex at Bodhgaya  are in decayed condition and need to be  renovated at the earliest possibility . The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, in its meeting held on the 12th November, 2008 resolved and decided to take up this important renovation work with the support of devotees.

2. Project detail and cost :

The entire existing cemented boundary railings of the Temple will be replaced by sandstone boundary railings and walls, duly maintaining the originality in design.

a. The estimate worked out for one unit of the outer circle boundary railing is USD 5000. There are 142 units, excluding the gates. 

b. The inner circle boundary railings are measured as 436 running fts. The estimate worked out is USD 500 for one running ft.

c. The boundary walls at the east side of Meditation park of the Temple will be reconstructed by raising the height and stone carvings depicting the life history of Buddha. Stone carving one panel of dimension of 6ft.x 10ft. cost USD 2600

d. The rough estimated project cost is USD 11,11,000 (Eleven lakh eleven thousand only)


 

   

3. Project Programme:

i. Fund raise Publicity and collection of donation:  December, 08 – April, 2009.

ii. The first phase work to start on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti , May, 2009.

iii. To complete the entire proposed project within Buddha Jayanti 2011.

4. Appeal for donation:

All Dharma organizations, institutions and devotees worldwide are appealed for their support and donation  towards this noble project. Donations can be sent directly  to BTMC’s bank accounts  by online transmission, under intimation to the Secretary, BTMC or Chief Monk who will acknowledge it  with issue of  receipt. Donors name can be inscribed on the lower portion of railings.
