CELEBRATIONS

The Buddha Jayanti :- The Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee organises Buddha Jayanti celebrations every year on Vaisakh Purnima (falling in May). On the thrice blessed Buddha Purnima day large number of Buddhist devotees from all over the world assemble to pay their respectful homage to Lord Buddha. Besides decorating the temple and area around with colourful Buddhist flags, the Committee makes arrangements, for morning prayer, colourful procession of the Monks, worship with large offerings, distribution of sweets and snacks to the school boys, religious discourses, Sangha Dana to the Ven'ble Monks, Lamas and invited guests, group meditation, and symposium on some relevant topics. The Buddhist festive occasions are celebrated with dignity and peace all around the year.

The Committee gives much emphasis and significance in preparing rice pudding to commemorate the sacred memory of Sujata’s offering to the Lord Buddha shortly before attaining enlightenment. It is prepared every day and offered to the sacred altar of the temple and later it is distributed among the devotees and visitors who are often very keen to have it.

The Management Committee organises Sangha Dana every Full Moon Day, besides the Anagarika Dharmapala Birth Anniversary on 17th September and Bodhisatva Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April, his Death Anniversary on 6th December, the Revival of Buddhism in Modern India on 14th October and Hiroshima Day on 6th August and Peace Prayer meetings every year.

Kalachakra Pooja & Peace Ceremony :- Kalachakra pooja is orgnised under the leadership of his Holiness the Dalai Lama nearabout 10 days since 40 years.

Peace Ceremony is organised by Tibetan Nyingma Sect of America every year since 1994. On the large scale Tibetan Buddhist, and Devotees of the world take part in this ceremony. Each year the TNMC, and the Tibetan Aid Project alongwith Dharma Publications sponsor the creation of books, art prints and ritual objects to be donated to world peace ceremonies.The peace ceremony included daily special prayers one lakh chanting and one lakh brass butter lamps lighting offerings with garlands and flowers to the Mahabodhi Temple. Buddha Gaya turned into a town of tents. Every year Poya pooja and Poya meditation conducted in the inspection of Ven. Rimpoche, under the setting tents in Shanti Vana.South - East of the Mahabodhi Temple. Buddha Gaya Temple Management Committee co-operate and helps to celebrates the Peace Ceremony for human welfare and to establish world peace.
