Projects completed at Mahabodhi Temple, surrounding areas and its precincts in recent times ..... Landscaping Project in front of the Mahabodhi Mahavihar :- Blocking of the main road, north of the Mahabodhi Temple and creation of an open air theatre ,pedestreanization of path with red granite stone and creation of vehicular by pass along with a new bus stand. This project has already been completed cost of U.S.$ 505 Thousands ( Rs.2.02 Crores) has been financed by the Overseas Economic Co- Operation Fund (OECF).Lumbini Guest House :- The Lumbini Guest House with 16 rooms has been built by BTMC constructed at a cost of Rs. 30 Lakhs ( U.S.$ 75 Thousands). The Sambodhi and Mahabodhi Gates :- 2Km. to the west of Mahabodhi Temple, 2.km. on the Gaya-Dobhi bypass road is the Sambodhi Gate and in the north, on Niranjana river side is the Mahabodhi Gate having been constructed at a cost of Rs.10 Lakhs( U.S.$ 25 Thousand). by BTMC.
Chemical Wash & Treatment of the Mahabodhi Temple :- After 17 years the chemical wash and chemical treatment of the Temple has been completed by under the supervision of Archaeological Survey of India, Patna. BTMC has spent Rs. 6.5 Lakhs (U.S.$ 16250/-) on the project. Purchase of big generator :- BTMC has purchased a Kirloskar generator (35 kv.) to solve the electrical problems. Rs. 2,80,000/-. Construction of pedestal :- Pedestal has been constructed for the statue of Bodhisatva Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, situated in Jayaprakash Udyan (Park) west of the Mahabodhi Mahavihar. The 750 kg. metal statue is 9 ft. high; the cost of Rs.4.5 Lakhs donated by Ven. Bhadant Arya Nagarjuna Shurei Sasai, Nagpur, to the Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Laloo Prasad Yadav, on 30 th June 1995. Pedestal construction cost of Rs.2,50000/-.
Reception Hall :- BTMC have constructed beautiful Reception Hall at a cost of Rs.8,50000/- near the main eastern gate of the Mahabodhi Mahavihar. It was inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 21 January, 1998. Construction of toilets :- Devotees of Taiwan donated U.S.$ 4000 for construction of a modern toilet in 1995. It is placed between Muchalinda Lake & Meditation Park in the south-east of the Mahabodhi Temple, cost of the toilet Rs. 3,60,000/-. The Management Committee has just constructed a common toilet adjacent to Reception Hall cost of the Project is Rs. 3,80,000/-. Construction of the Meditation Park :- A very auspicious meditation park has been constructed by the forest Department, Govt. of Bihar under OECF scheme. Meditation Cottages will also be constructed. Visitors Waiting Room and Meeting Hall :- Buddhagaya Temple Management Committee has arranged a well furnished visitors waiting room and Meeting Hall with air-conditioned facilities in the Library building at a cost of U.S.$ 11250 (Rs.4.5 Lakhs). |
